International Coffee Day - Coffee Around the Globe: From Bean to Cup

COFFEE PRODUCING POWER HOUSE:
KOPI LUWAK

Made from beans of coffee cherries consumed and excreted by the Asian palm civet, a small cat-like animal native to Indonesia. The civet selectively chooses the best coffee cherries, and during digestion, the beans undergo fermentation, resulting in a unique flavour profile.

Once excreted, local farmers carefully collect and wash the beans, roasted to perfection, bringing out the rich and smooth taste that coffee enthusiasts crave. Due to the labour-intensive process and limited supply, Kopi Luwak is considered one of the most expensive coffees in the world.

Many coffee plantations in Bali offer tours where visitors can witness the entire coffee production process, including the collection of civet excrement.
